Abul Hassan Ali Ibn Usman al-Jullabi al-Hajvery al-Ghaznawi,.
- Also Known As Data Ganj Bakhs
He Belonged To A Place Called Hajwer In The Town Of Ghazni, In Afghanistan. He Lived During The 5th Century AH. He Belonged To A Syed Family. He Completed His Earlier Education In Ghazni By My Memorizing the Holy Qur’an. After This He Studied Arabic, Farsi, Hadith, Fiqh, Philosphy Wgaira Wgaira. At That Time Ghazni Was The Center For All Educations In Central Asia. After This He Seeked Spiritual Education. For This Purpose He Travelled To Many Places, And Finally Became A Spiritual Disciple Of Hazrat Abul Fazal Mohammad bin Khatli, Who Lived In Syria. Under The Guidance Of Hazrat Abul Fazal, He Slept Less, Ate Less & Performed Tough Meditations,. Data Ganj Bakshs Also Visited Lahore, Which He loved So Much, That He Decided To Spent The Last Years Of His Life There. When He Arrived To Lahore, He Started To Preach About Islam. In Fact He Also Built A Mosque There, Also Known As: “Khishti Masjid”.
It Is Said That When The Mosque Was Originally Being Built By Him, Some Of Locals Pointed Out That “The Qibla” Of All The Mosque Wasn’t Pointing At The Right Direction. After The Complaint, He Asked The People To Say Prayer, And During The Prayer He Showed Them The Holy Kaaba,. And The Direction Was Right.
If Was The First Miracle Of The Saint. This Mosque Became A Model To Look At For The Fixing Of Qibla Of All The Mosques In The Following Centuries.
At That Time Lahore Was Included Into The Ghazni Kingdom, Who’s Ruler Was Sultaan Mehmood Ghaznavi. And The Governer Of Lahore Was Ra’e Raju, Who Was A Hindu And Had Many Mystical Abillites. People Of Lahore Were Used To Supply Milk To Ra’e Raju In Big Quantity, As Capitation.
Once An Old Women Was On Her Way To Pass Before Hazrat Ali Hajveri, Holding A Water-Pot Poured With Milk.
Hazrat Ali Hajveri Said: “Give Some Milk To Me”,.
The Women Refused And Said That She Had To Give It To Ra’e Raju.
Hazrat Ali Hajveri Replied: “Give Some Milk To Me. By The Grace Of God, Your Cow Will Produce Much More Milk Than Usual”
The Women Gave Him The Pot. Hazrat Ali Hajveri Drank A Bit Of It, And Threw The Rest Of The Milk Into The River. When The Old Lady Went Home, She Was Surprised To See That The Breasts Of Her Cows Were Full With Milk. She Poured All Of Her Pots, But Her Cows’ Breasts’ Were Still Full With Milk. Soon Everyone In Lahore Knew About This, And People Started To Visit Hazrat Ali Hajveri. And Everyone Brought To Milk To Him, And This Way They Stopped To Supply Milk To Ra’e Raju.
Hazrat Ali Hajveri Also Built A Room Adjacent To That Mosque, And Used That Room As Khanqa. Many Unbelievers Accepted Islam On His Hands, Many People Touched The Higher Stages Of Spirituality Under His Guidance. He Married Twice, But Both Of His Wives Died Soon After Marriage. He Had A Son, Named Hassan.
He Died At The Age Of 65 In 465 A.H., In Lahore.
