Meray sabr ko aazma raha tha
Wo meray qareeb aa raha tha!

Usay dar tha ke mein bichadh na ja’on
Mujhay apna yaqi’n dila raha tha

Kisi aur ki mein samajh na pa’oon
Mujhay aisi zaba’n sikha raha tha!

Ye jaha’n gul aur qamr-o-saba
Mujhay sub se hasi’n batla raha tha

Ik din mujh se milnay youn aaya
Ke sara badan uska sharma raha tha!

Ye aadat bhi uski badi dilruba thi
Nigahain jhuka ker wo muska raha tha!

Kabhi youn na usko haseeno’n mein deikha
Jo deikha mera dil bhi ghabra raha tha

Juda hoke mujh se wo ik roz baad
Mila youn ke pal pal ginwa raha tha
