Tanha tanha hum ro lengay, mehfil mehfil gayengay,
Jab tak aansoo paas rahengay, tab tak geet sunayengay !

Tum jo socho woh tum jaano, hum to apni kehtay hain,
Dher na karna ghar jaanay mein, varna ghar kho jayengay!

Bachon kay chotay haathon ko, chaand sitaray choonay do,
Chaar kitabain pad kar woh bhi, ham jaisay ho jayengay !

Kin rahon say door hai manzil, kaun sa rasta aasan hai,
Hum jab thak kar ruk jayengay, auron ko samjayengay !

Achi soorat vaalay saray, pathar-dil ho mumkin hai,
Hum to us din raay dengay, jis din dokha khayengay !

Tanha tanha hum ro lengay, mehfil mehfil gayengay,
Jab tak aansoo paas rahengay, tab tak geet sunayengay !
