my refuge from hurt an strife

Alone my soul aches, cold as ice
you by my side its warm an nice

as if the sun’s no more warm
the sky is cast and out to harm

the way ahead an alien stretch
finding my feet an uphill fret

Strewn in life, riches abound
but I'm lost without you around

You are my magic my talisman ring
Its your smiles that wonders bring

on impulse I reach to hold you close
you are my fix my healing dose

when you’re gone I seek and veer
with you around, as blithe as a deer

alone I cower an skulk in shadows
you by me I dance in meadows

your smile to me is home and hearth
that gives me life and all its worth

you outa sight I can scarcely breathe
thoughts of wreaths and go beneath
