Kabhi yaad aaye to poochna,
Zara apni khalwat-e-shaam se,

Kissay ishq tha teri zaat se,
Kissay pyar tha tere naam se,

Zara yaad karo kay wo kon tha,
Jo kabhi tujhay bhi aziz tha,

Wo jo jee utha tere naam se,
Wo jo marr mita tere naam se,

Humain berukhi ka nahi gila,
Kay yehi wafaoon ka hai sila,

Magar aisa jurm tha kaunsa,
Gaye hum dua salaam se,

Na kabhi visaal ki chaah ki,
Na kabhi firaaq main aah ki,

Kay mera tareeqa-e-bandagi,
Hai juda tareeqa-e-aam se...
