روشنی دیتے گمانوں کی طرح ہوتا ہے
حسن بھی آئینہ خانوں کی طرح ہوتا ہے

ہجر وہ موسمِ ویرانیِ دل ہے جس میں
آدمی اجڑے مکانوں کی طرح ہوتا ہے

مات ہو سکتی ہے چالوں میں کسی بھی لمحے
عشق شطرنج کے خانوں کی طرح ہوتا ہے

وہ جو آتا ہے تیری یاد کے رخسار تلک
اشک تسبیح کے دانوں کی طرح ہوتا ہے

تجھ کو ہاتھوں سے گنوایا تو یہ محسوس ہوا
پیار بھی جھوٹے فسانوں کی طرح ہوتا ہے

بعض اوقات محبت کے دنوں میں اعجاز
ایک لمحہ بھی زمانوں کی طرح ہوتا ہے
