zikr-e-shab-e-firaaq se vahashat use bhii thii
merii tarah kisii se muhabbat use bhii thii

mujh ko bhii shauq thaa naye cheharoon kii diid kaa
rastaa badal ke chalane kii aadat use bhii thii

us raat der tak vo rahaa mahv-e-guftaguu
masruuf mein bhii kam thaa faraaghat use bhii thii

sunataa thaa vo bhii sab se puraanii kahaniyaan
taazaa rafaqatoon kii zaruurat use bhii thii

mujh se bichhar ke shahar mein ghul mil gayaa vo shaKhs
hala-anke shahar bhar se raqabat use bhii thii

vo mujh se barh ke zabt kaa aadii thaa jii gayaa
varnaa har ek saans qayamat use bhii thii
