Importance of Breakfast:
The habit of eating breakfast as late as only after lunch is extremely unhealthy because our body is already tired after a few hours of hard work at that point. Many people may think that it only takes one cup of coffee for our metabolism to function properly, but unfortunately it is not so. Actually, we could say that it’s like trying to get your car to work on water instead of gas. Our organism is a very complex system. It can use even older resources. But if you do not feed it as it should, in time, it will result in malfunctions with consequences. Thus, you will have the tendency to consume foods which are richer in fats and calories at certain times of the day (or of the night) when your metabolism is pretty much slower. So even without eating all that much, you may start wondering about your gaining weight and why your physical and mental tonus is not as high as you would like? Why can’t you stay focused and why do you always seem to feel so exhausted when you should feel so full of energy and enthusiasm instead?
That is why nutritionists keep pleading about people’s observing this very special ritual called a good old healthy breakfast. The most suitable breakfast foods would be the integrated cereals which are rich in vitamins, calcium and iron. Also, eggs are highly recommended because they are easier to digest in the morning. Light bacon is another good breakfast element, together with milk and milky products, fresh fruit and natural fruit juice.
Keeping these in mind, you should go for what seems most appealing and delicious to you and what you feel it can do you good. Breakfast should be savored in tranquility, at a slow pace. It’s most advisable to take your time and have breakfast with your family and dear ones, without any rush, getting your mind off the idea that you have to hurry and go to work/school.
This habit of having a good breakfast is acquired during childhood. The child’s organism will start working as it should, any dizziness or sleepiness will vanish and the tiring hours of school are likely to pass quite fast. Studies have proved that students who have a good and rich breakfast get better grades at school and can concentrate more than those with a frugal morning meal. They are also more cheerful and diligent than those arriving at school with an empty stomach. Also, it has been noticed that deficiencies in vitamins and minerals such as B2, calcium, zinc, iron may occur especially in those children who skip breakfast or eat very little in the morning.
As far as grownups are concerned, experts advise that the morning coffee often accompanied by a cigarette is not to be mistaken with a good and healthy breakfast. Coffee stimulates the production of gastric juice. In the absence of foods in our stomach, this produced gastric juice may irritate fact that leads to diseases such as ulcer or gastritis.
But what if we don’t feel hungry at that often too early morning hour? Indeed, the habit of skipping breakfast may allow our body to adjust to this lack of nutrition, so that we don’t feel the need to eat in the morning anymore. But the thing is, once you skip breakfast, all eating hours are altered and so you end up eating late at night and in the morning you may not feel hungry at all. But of course that with a little bit of good will, such habits may change. Your metabolism can actually get back to normal and so you can again start your day enjoying a bowl of cereals with milk, a delicious sandwich and fresh fruit juice that can give you an excellent new beginning for a brilliant new day. In time, the effort of observing the rule of eating a rich breakfast is sure to pay off. And like any good teaching in the world, it must certainly be passed on to the next generations. So what more can I say? Stop skipping breakfast and you will start feeling a lot healthier and more energetic and even more creative.
