Heart's Hesitation

When it comes to finding how I feel I don't know what to do,
Because you seem so sure of yourself when you say to me, "I love you,"
Would you think me a fool if I told you that's so hard to believe,
Sometimes I think I could almost give you my heart
but then an all to familiar fear comes over me,
Maybe what I feel in my heart I'm not sure of anymore
yet there are times it doesn't know where to begin,
I hear my heart waiting to say something
but it hesitates knowing it doesn't want to lose love again,
You promise me your whole heart forever and your undying love
but as hard as I try only tears come to my eyes,
I want to believe you so much but then I think of the many times
I cared about someone before and turned out to be lies,
I can hear my heart silently uttering many words to you
but the words fade as they reach my lips
something reminds me of my ongoing fear,
Yet you seem to be so sure of yourself and somehow your deep brown eyes
pierce my soul as you whisper those sacred words in my ear.
