جـو اس کـو پلٹنـا ہـوتـا

جو اس کو پلٹنا ہوتا
تو اب تک پلٹ چکا ہوتا
کبھی تم نے نہیں دیکھا
کہ جب بھی شام ہوتی ہے
پرندے لوٹ آتے ہیں
سب اپنے آشیانوں کو
سبھی اپنے ٹھکانوں کو
مگر تم کیوں بیٹھے ہو
کئی شاموں سے چوکھٹ پر
کئی راتیں گزاریں ہیں
کئی دن یوں بیتائے ہیں
تمہیں ہے کس کا انتظار یہ؟
کسی کے لوٹ آنے کا
کس اُمید پہ اب تک
تم یونہی بیٹھے ہو
کیا اب تک یہ نہیں سمجھے
کہ سب ہی لوٹ آتے ہیں
اپنی اپنی منزل کو
کہ جیسے دن ڈھلتا ہے
اندھیرے کا راج بڑھتا ہے
مگر وہ جو نہیں پلٹا
تو کیا اب تک نہیں سمجھے
کہ اب اس کو نہیں آنا
کہ اس کو پلٹنا ہوتا
تو اب تک پلٹ چکا ہوتا
