Jagaa sakey nah tere lab, lakeer aisee thi

humare bakht ki reekha bhi Mir aisee thi

.

yeh haath choomey gaye, phir bhi bay-gulab rahe

jo rut bhi aayi, khizan ke safeer aisee thi

.

woh mere paoon ko chooney jhuka tha jis lamhey

jo maangta osey deti, ameer aisee thi

.

shahaadatein mere haq mein tamaam jati thee

magr khamosh thay munsif, nazeer aisee thi

.

kutar kay jaal bhi sayaad ki raza ke beghair

tamaam omar nah ortee, aseer aisee thi

.

phir os ke baad nah dekhe wisal ke musam

judaaiyon ki gharree chashm geer aisee thi

.

bas ek nigah mujhe dekhta, chala jata

os admi ki mohabbat faqeer aisee thi

.

ridaa ke saath luteray ko zaad-e-rah bhi diya

teri faraakh dilee mere veer aisee thi

.

kabhi nah chahne walon ka khoon baha maanga

nigah-e-shehr-e-sukhan bay zameer aise thi
