The Orange Rose

I used to sit amongst the blue bird’s song
The Summer breezes had come and gone
In my porch swing world I used to stay
Until the set in of a cold Autumn’s day
This is when my entire world would change
Just from a gift that seemed so strange
It appeared wrapped with a satin bow
A single orange rose with a golden glow
I thought to myself from whom could this be?
The card attached was addressed to me
I couldn’t believe my eyes for the words I read
My legs went weak and I felt light in the head
“I am fascinated by your beauty you see,
I watch you everyday by the big Oak Tree.
With your enchanting smile that brightens my day
I can’t help but notice you from across the way.
”A secret admirer my whispering heart did repeat
Praying one day this man I would meet
Such a unique gift from someone unknown
My true beauty to someone I had shown.
