Can I Use Alcohol to Clean a Laptop Keypad?

Cleaning your laptop, such as by swabbing rubbing alcohol on your keyboard, extends the life of your computer and helps keep it looking and feeling like new.
However, take care when cleaning your laptop, because harsh chemicals and excessive moisture may cause damage. Always turn off and unplug your laptop before you clean it.

Laptop Exterior and Vents
Wipe your laptop exterior with a clean cloth dampened with water
. If necessary, clean grime with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.
Remove trapped dust or hair from vents with a clean cotton swab or compressed air.

Laptop Keyboard
Wipe your keyboard with a clean, damp cloth.
If necessary, dislodge crumbs, hair or grit with compressed air.
After, wipe the keys with a cotton swab dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Spilled Liquids
If you spill something on your laptop, immediately turn off the computer and turn it over to allow the liquid to drain.
Blot liquid with a soft cloth. Do not take apart the laptop or casing.
Allow the laptop to dry for 24 hours, and then turn the computer back on.

Warning
Never use harsh cleaning chemicals on your laptop.
Never clean it in the dishwasher or dry it in the microwave.
Never take apart your laptop, because this may void your warranty.
