These amazing monkey orchids are usually secretively hidden nearly 2,000 metres above eye-level in the cloudforests of south-eastern Ecuadorian and Peruvian. But Eeerkia Schulz, a 57-year-old amateur photographer and enthusiastic flowers collector has snapped some stunning photos of them.

The scientific name of these Monkey Orchids is 'Dracula Simia'. Dracula, literally means ‘little dragon’ referring to the strange aspect of the two long spurs of the two long sepals. Simia is a nod towards the fact that this remarkable orchid bears more than a passing resemblance to a monkey’s face.
