There is no missing $ . As u mentioned above the shirt is for $97 so if u borrowed $100 minus $97= 3
You get 1$ plus ur parents each gets a $1= 100
1+1+1+97=100

You still owe your parents $49 each. Whether you pay them $48.50 each plus half of the $1 that you kept or give them $49.00 each later on.
