Asalam O Alaikum Everyone! :)
As you all know that Tomorrow is the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Allama Muhammad iqbal who revolutionized the whole Nation with his Remarkable poetry and paved a way for the Independence of Pakistan. I recently read that article which I found quite relevent In accordance with Iqbal day. After reading the article, I would encourage you all to Post in this thread something related to Iqbal: Be it about His Vision, His poetry, His way of Thinking on the Meaning of Ummah Or your own Thoughts about His message and if Its applicable in today's era or not.! :)

علامہ اقبال 9 نومبر 1877ء (بمطابق 3 ذیقعد 1294ھ) کو برطانوی ہندوستان کے شہر سیالکوٹ میں شیخ نور محمد کے گھر پیدا ہوئے۔ ماں باپ نے نام محمد اقبال رکھا۔ مختلف تاریخ دانوں کے مابین علامہ کی تاریخ ولادت پر کچھ اختلافات رہے ہیں لیکن حکومت پاکستان سرکاری طور پر 9 نومبر 1877ء کو ہی ان کی تاریخ پیدائش تسلیم کرتی ہے۔اقبال کے آبا ؤ اجداد اٹھارویں صدی کے آخر یا انیسویں صدی کے اوائل میں کشمیر سے ہجرت کر کے سی
الکوٹ آئے اور محلہ کھیتیاں میں آباد ہوئے۔علامہ نے ابتدائی تعلیم سیالکوٹ میں ہی حاصل کی اور مشن ہائی سکول سے میٹرک اور مرے کالج سیالکوٹ سے ایف اے کا امتحان پاس کیا۔ زمانہ طالبعلمی میں انھیں میر حسن جیسے استاد ملے جنہوں نے آپ کی صلاحیتوں کو بھانپ لیا۔ اور ان کے اوصاف خیالات کے مطابق آپ کی صحیح رہنمائی کی۔

شعر و شاعری کا شوق بھی آپ کو یہیں پیدا ہوا۔ اور اس شوق کو فروغ دینے میں مولوی میر حسن کا بڑا دخل تھا۔ایف اے کرنے کے بعد آپ اعلیٰ تعلیم کے لیے لاہور چلے گئے اور گورنمنٹ کالج لاہور سے بی اے اور ایم اے کے امتحانات پاس کیے یہاں آپ کو پروفیسرآرنلڈ جیسے فاضل شفیق استاد مل گئے جنہوں نے اپنے شاگرد کی رہنمائی میں کوئی کسر اٹھا نہ رکھی۔ 1905 میں علامہ اقبال اعلیٰ تعلیم کے لیے انگلستان چلے گئے اور کیمبرج یونیورسٹی میں داخلہ لے لیا اور پروفیسر براؤن جیسے فاضل اساتذہ سے رہنمائی حاصل کی۔ بعد میں آپ جرمنی چلے گئے جہاں میونخ یونیورسٹی سے آپ نے فلسفہ میں پی ایچ ڈی کی ڈگری حاصل کی۔ابتداء میں آپ نے ایم اے کرنے کے بعد اورینٹل کالج لاہور میں تدریس کے فرائض سرانجام دیئے لیکن آپ نے بیرسٹری کو مستقل طور پر اپنایا۔

وکالت کے ساتھ ساتھ آپ شعروشاعری بھی کرتے رہے اور سیاسی تحریکوں میں بھرپور انداز میں حصہ لیا۔ 1922ء میں حکومت کی طرف سے سر کا خطاب ملا۔1926ء میں آپ پنجاب لیجسلیٹو اسمبلی کے ممبر چنے گئے۔ آپ آزادی وطن کے علمبردار تھے اور باقاعدہ سیاسی تحریکوں میں حصہ لیتے تھے۔ مسلم لیگ میں شامل ہوگئے اور آل انڈیا مسلم لیگ کے صدر منتخب ہوئے آپ کا الہ آباد کا مشہور صدارتی خطبہ تاریخی حیثیت رکھتا ہے اس خطبے میں آپ نے پاکستان کا تصور پیش کیا۔ 1931ء میں آپ نے گول میز کانفرنس میں شرکت کرکے مسلمانوں کی نمائندگی کی۔ علامہ اقبال اور قائداعظم کی ان تھک کوششوں سے ملک آزاد ہوگیا اور پاکستان معرض وجود میں آیا۔ لیکن پاکستان کی آزادی سے پہلے ہی 21 اپریل 1938ء(بمطابق 20 صفر 1357ھ) میں علامہ انتقال کر گئے تھے۔ لیکن ایک عظیم شاعر اور مفکر کے طور پر قوم ہمیشہ ان کی احسان مند رہے گی۔ جس نے پاکستان کا تصور پیش کرکے برصغیر کے مسلمانوں میں جینے کی ایک نئی آس پیدا کی۔

شاعر مشرق علامہ اقبال حساس دل و دماغ کے مالک تھے آپ کی شاعری زندہ شاعری ہے جو ہمیشہ مسلمانوں کے لیے مشعل راہ بنی رہے گی۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ کلام اقبال دنیا کے ہر حصے میں پڑھا جاتا ہے ۔ اقبال نے نئی نسل میں انقلابی روح پھونکی اور اسلامی عظمت کو اجاگر کیا۔ ان کے کئی کتابوں کے انگریزی ، جرمنی ، فرانسیسی، چینی ، جاپانی اور دوسری زبانوں میں ترجمے ہو چکے ہیں۔ جس سے بیرون ملک بھی لوگ آپ کے معترف ہیں۔ بلامبالغہ علامہ اقبال ایک عظیم مفکر مانے جاتے ہیں۔اقبال کو حضورؐ سے جو والہانہ عشق ہے اس کا اظہار اس کی اردو اور فارسی کے ہر دور میں ہوتا رہا ہے۔ اقبال کی انفرادیت ہے کہ انہوں نے اردو فارسی دونوں زبانوں میں مدح رسول اکرمؐ کو ایک نئے اسلوب اور نئے آہنگ کے ساتھ اختیار کیا۔

اقبال کی طبیعت میں سوز و گداز اور حب رسول ؐاس قدرتھا کہ جب کبھی ذکر رسولؐ ہوتا تو آپ بے تاب ہو جاتے اور دیر تک روتے رہتے۔ روزگار فقیر میں سید وحید الدین لکھتے ہیں۔اقبال کی شاعری کا خلاصہ جو ہر اور لب لباب عشق رسولؐ اور اطاعت رسولؐ ہے۔ ان کا دل عشق رسولؐ نے گداز کر رکھا تھا زندگی کے آخری زمانے میں یہ کیفیت اس انتہا کو پہنچ گئی تھی کہ ہچکی بند جاتی۔ آواز بھرا جاتی تھی اور وہ کئی کئی منٹ سکوت اختیار کر لیتے تھے۔ تاکہ اپنے جذبات پر قابو پا سکیں۔عشق و محبت کا یہ مرتبہ ایمان کا خلاصہ ہے۔ اتباع رسولؐ کے بغیر محبت رسولؐ ناممکن ہے۔ آپؐ کی ذات گرامی رحمتہ اللعالمین تھی۔ اس لئے مومن کو بھی رحمت و شفقت کا آئینہ ہونا چاہیے۔

اقبال فرماتے ہیں کہ مسلمان کی سرشت ایک موتی کی طرح ہے جس کو آب و تاب بحرِ رسولؐ سے حاصل ہوتی ہے۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ اقبال اسوہ حسنہ کی تقلید کا سبق دیتے ہوئے کہتے ہیں کہ اے مومن تو باغِ مصطفویٰؐ کی ایک کلی ہے۔ بہار مصطفویٰؐ کی ہواؤں سے کھل کر پھول بن جاؤ۔اقبال کے نزدیک خالق کائنات نے جب اس دنیا میں اپنی کاریگری کا آغاز کیا اور حضرت انسان کی شکل میں اپنے چھپے ہوئے خزانے کو عیاں کیا پھر جب ارتقاء کے منازل طے ہوتے گئے اور قوائے انسانی اپنے پورے کمال پر آگئے تو رب العالمین نے محمدؐ کو معبوث فرمایا۔ جو سب کے لئے رحمت ، ہادی ، راہ نما ، اور مہربان تھے۔کلام اقبال میں عشق رسولؐ کے اظہار میں جو شیفتگی و وارفتگی کا جذبہ پایا جاتا ہے۔

وہ بزرگانِ دین کا فیضانِ نظر تھا۔ اس میں مکتب کی کرامت کا دخل نہیں تھا۔ آپ کے کلام میں شیخ عطار ، نظام الدین اولیا ؒ، حضرت مجدد الف ثانی ؒ، مولانا رومؒ، اور امام غزالی ؒکا تذکرہ اس امر پر شاہد ہے۔ اقبال ایک جگہ فرماتے ہیں کہ میں نے اپنی تمام تر عقل اور فلسفہ دانی کو نبی کریمؐ کے قدموں میں ڈھیر کر دیا ہے۔ اقبال کے ذہن میں عشق و مستی کا اوّل اور آخری محور ایک ہی ہونا چاہیے اور وہ محور ہے نبی کریمؐ کی ذات جو ذاتِ تجلیات ہے۔

نگاہِ عشق و مستی میں وہی اوّل وہی آخر

وہی قرآں وہی فرقاں وہی یٰسین وہی طہٰ

جس دور میں اقبال نے شکوہ اور جواب شکوہ جیسی نظمیں تخلیق کیں وہ مسلماناں عالم کے لئے ایک عالمگیر انحطاط و انتشار کا زمانہ تھا اقبا ل مسلمانان عالم کی اس عمومی صورت حال پر ہمہ وقت بے تاب و بے قرار رہتے تھے۔ جواب شکوہ لکھنے سے کچھ عرصہ پیشتر اقبال نے طرابلس کے شہیدوں کے حوالے سے ایک نظم حضور رسالت مآب لکھی۔ اقبال کا مطالعہ اسلام اور قرآن بہت ہی اچھا تھا۔ انہوں نے اپنی شاعری میں آیاتِ قرآنی کو جگہ دی ہے۔ کیونکہ اقبال کو پتہ تھا کہ اللہ کی کتابوں میں یہ آخری اور واحد کتاب ہے جس میں تبدیلی اور غلط بیانی کسی کے بس کی بات نہیں۔ اور اس کی خالص شکل لوح محفوظ میں موجود ہے اور اسی قرآن میں اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتے ہیں کہ

ترجمہ: اے نبی کہہ دو کہ اگر تم اللہ سے محبت کرتے ہو تو میری تا بعداری کرو۔

اقبال کے نزدیک اسوہ نبویؐ کے اتباع کے بدولت ہی ہم مکارم الاخلاق سے آراستہ ہو سکتے ہیں اسی وجہ سے ہمارے دلوں میں کشادگی اور نور اور تجلیات خداوندی جگہ پا سکتی ہے۔ اقبال فرماتے ہیں

درد دل مسلم مقام مصطفےٰ است

آبروئے ماز نامِ مصطفی است

اقبال فرماتے ہیں کہ اس دنیا کی تخلیق کی اصل وجہ ذات نبیؐ ہے ۔ علامہ اقبال خوددار تھے ، شاہین صفت تھے ، شفیق تھے ، مرد مومن تھے ، صاف گوتھے ،جمہوریت پسند تھے۔

Hmmm! With due respect, I would like to disagree with you a bit on the statment that "Iqbal Jamhooriyat Pasand nahi thay". In my humble opinion, Iqbal was in favour of democracy but not the "Western" Democracy. Democracy in itself is a very abstract term and we can find different typologies of democracies like Direct democracy, Indirect democracy, constitutional democracy, monarchical democracy, social democracy, totalitarian democracy and the list goes on. So Perhaps Iqbal was not against democracy persay but the European or Western democracy and was propogating the Islamic democracy.
Furthermore, I agree to Iqbal's statment that " Juda Ho mazhab se Siyaasat to reh jaati hay Changezi". and we have seen this happened in the western democracy case where they believe that religion shud be separate frm state and in result of that, we have witnessed many immoral things being legalized. He has also said about the Western Democracy that :
ہے وہی سازِ کہن مغرب کا جمہوری نظام
جس کے پردے میں نہیں غیراز نوائے قیصری
دیو استبداد جمہوری قبا میں پائے کوب
تو سمجھتا ہے یہ آزادی کی ہے نیلم پری
مجلس آئین و اصلاح ورعایات و حقوق
طبّ مغرب میں مردے میٹھے، اثر خواب آوری
گرمئی گفتارِ اعضائے مجالس الامان
یہ بھی اک سرمایہ داروں کی ہے جنگِ زر گری
اس سرابِ رنگ و بو کو گلستاں سجھا ہے تُو
اہ اے ناداں قفس کو آشیاں سمجھا ہے تُو

I was gone toweb to search the English translation of that section which goes like :
1) Western democratic system is the same old musical instrument which contains no tunes other than Imperial ones.

2) It is the demon of autocracy dancing in the garb of democracy. And you think it is a fairy of freedom come from Paradise.

3) Legislative Councils, Reforms, Concessions and Grants, Rights etc are the Western medicine which tastes sweet but in effect is opiate.

4) This eloquence of the members of the Legislative Council is irresistible. It is (in reality) nothing but a warfare of Capitalists to make more money.

5) You take this mirage of colour and smell for a garden. I am sorry for you. You on account of your foolishness, see cage as your nest.

So here he gives a very clear message about the Western dmeocracy and I complety agree to it lekin I guess what he wanted was a different democracy but none the less still democracy and I guess Islamic system of gov is also very much rooted in the concept of democracy with certain basis of Theology so Its a mix and different type of democracy.
So My point is only that he wanted democracy but a different democracy rooted on Islamic values and beliefs. :)

Hmmm, I can enumerate multiple reasons for adopting "true" Democracy combined with some theocracy as base root but In simple words, I think its the best option available compared to many others. This is the reason one shud go for democracy as through this method, the representatives are chosen among the people and with the consensus of people. Now yes, here it may raise the question of " Tyranny of the majority" but that can be managed while having the theocratic principales in mind. I can go further in detailz but before doing so I would like to ask back the Question

Aik waqt tak yeh Kaam Prophets ne Kiya, Us K baad yeh Zimedaari Khulfa-e-Rashdeen Ko Sonpi Gayi aur Us K baad Awaam main ne Mutakhab Karda Leaders ko, Ab Leaders ka Intikhaab Kiska Kaam hay? Awaam, Rayya, aur Logo'n ka! Tou jab Loag aur Awaam is amal main shaamil hooay to yeh Democracy tou hogi hi han magar Western Democracy nahi Balkay "Theocratic Democracy" Yani Khuda aur Quraan K Wazah Karda Asoolo'n K mutabik. Quaid had once said that, we already have our Constitution which was bestowed on us 1400 years before and its still applicable in today's life.
