The President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, opened a “Geocell” sponsored classroom in the Kvareli Public School №2. This “Geocell” classroom is equipped with new, modern technology andfeatures an interactive smart desk and thirteen monitors. With such ultra modern technology, teachers will be able to hold integrated lessons. The President talked with schoolchildren and personally introduced the class to processes involving modern interactive techniques. Also, from the new “Geocell” classroom, students of the Kvareli Public School №2 can connect to the Tbilisi Experimental School №1’s “Geocell” classroom.

In such multifunctional classrooms lessons of English, Georgian, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Geography, and Geometry can be conducted.

During the lessons virtual labs and learning tools can also be used. The schoolchildren will be able to save electronic versions of their lessons. Teachers will have the opportunity to present new materials effectively by using high quality visual and audio systems.

The process will continue and modern multifunctional classrooms will be opened in all schools of Georgia's larger cities.

486 children study in the Kvareli Public School №2, and according to High School Exams, Kvareli School is among the top 20 schools in terms of grades. Among the school’s teachers, 53 have Masters Degrees and one has a Doctorate, 60 teachers have passed Professional Development Training and five are certified teachers.

The ceremony was held in the Ilia Chavchavadze House-Museum. The President awarded schoolchildren from four separate regions of Kakheti (Kvareli, Sighnaghi, Gurjaani and Telavi) with new “Lenovo” computers, which are produced in Georgia. Also, schoolchildren were awarded for their successful performance at the basic level of education.

The project is being implemented as part of the President’s National Program “My First Computer.” The program is designed to encourage the development of the teaching/learning methodology based on IT technologies by awarding successful students with personal computers (notebooks/computers).

In total, 1,108 successful school children have been presented with computers throughout Georgia.
