We must love Allah, subhana watala, far above all, with no comparison to the love we have for people.
Our love for the Prophet(sww) must surpass our love for our own children or parents. Teach the children to love Muhammad .(sww) Also teach about shirk, so that they know the difference between love and idol-worship (i.e. honoring, excessive praising, etc.).
Hadith - Bukhari 1:13, Narrated Abu Huraira (RA)
Allah's Apostle (sww) said, "By Him in Whose Hands my life is, none of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father and his children."
