Error "Not enough free disk space to continue installation" When Installing Acrobat Reader:

Issue:

When you install Adobe Acrobat Reader for Windows, the installer returns the error,

"Not enough free disk space to continue installation."

Solution:
Make sure that adequate space is available on the hard disk to which Acrobat Reader writes temporary files:

Acrobat Reader 5.x requires a minimum of 60 MB of available hard disk space for installation;

Acrobat Reader 4.x requires a minimum of 8 MB, or 16 MB in Windows NT.

To make sure that adequate hard disk space is available in Windows XP, 2000, or NT:

1: Exit from open applications.

2: Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel, and double-click System.

3: Click the Environment tab (Windows NT) or click the Advanced tab (Windows XP, 2000),

And then click Environment Variables.

4: In the User Variables For [user profile] section, locate TEMP in the Variable column, and note the folder listed in the Value column.

If the complete pathname for the folder isn't visible, double-click TEMP in the Variable column, and note the drive

And folder name in the Variable Value text box (for example, C:/Temp). In Windows NT,

If the drive is designated as "%SystemDrive%," this is the drive on which the Winnt folder resides.

Note: If a TEMP variable doesn't exist, contact your system administrator for assistance.

5: In Windows Explorer, verify that the folder you noted in step 4 exists and is on a drive,

That has adequate free space:

Note: You must have read/write access to the hard disk to do either of the following.

-- If the folder doesn't exist, create it: Right-click the drive, choose New Folder from the pop-up menu,

And type the folder name you noted in step 4 (for example, Temp).

-- If the drive doesn't have enough free space, createspace by removing unnecessary files.

To determine the amount of free space, right-click the drive, and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.

Additional Information:

When you start the Acrobat Reader installer (Setup.exe), it places a copy of the Setup.exe file,

In the temporary folder specified in the "Set temp=" line of the Autoexec.bat file (Windows Me, 98, or 95)

Or in the folder specified by environment Variables in the System Properties (Windows XP and 2000).

The installer returns an error if the drive or folder listed on the "Set temp=" line is invalid,

If you don't have write access to that drive or folder, or if that hard drive has inadequate space.
