1. make up ur mind wat u gonna use it for like gaming, audio, video or standard use.

2. always look for a pc. which can hold alot of ram(memory) like up to 2 gigs, the more the better.

3. look at the back of pc. make sure it has alot of pci slots. so u can always add any new hardware to it.

4. try to get a pc with agp card which supports graphics and it comes with its own memory, less load on a pc. built in video card is good too, but not that good.

5. look for the optionns on the pc what it has built-in like usb ports, ethernet.

6. up to 1 mb cache is very good

7. #1 processor is pentium then AMD and then celeron. get it wat u can afford.

8. there is a term called bus-speed, the higher the speed faster it will respond.

9. these days pc programs r too big, choose a higher capacity hard drive, this is the place where it holds all ur data.

10.buy some softwares with it like anti-virus and spy ware. It keeps ur pc clean from the un invited guests which u cant see.

11. choose a flat screen monitor it has less glare so it hurt ur eyes less.17 inch is good .

12. always use a surge protector with ur pc.

13. never try to fix ur pc on ur own unless u know what u doing

computer specification is most important. first before buying the computer you must know for which purpose you are buying the computer. If its for gaming you must have graphic card , Best of my knowledge is Geforce 9800 GT . which is my currently using and higher the ram better will be the performance like from 2GB-4GB .

If its for normal things like browsing etc then 1 GB ram will do the work and you wouldn't need graphic card for this .

Heavy load computer has different specification but that hardly the case for normal user.
